AKA: How you can get to see Pastor Tom kiss a crab! Each year, the children in Vacation Bible School participate in a mission project. This year's effort will be used to help one of the children who attends both our Mt. Hope Preschool and our VBS. Lulu Ramsey is a 5 year old who was born with a rare condition called tibial hememelia. There are various degrees of this condition, but it affects both of Lulu's legs to the extent that a vital surgery is needed. Tibial hememelia is a one in a MILLION condition and only 1/3 of all cases involve both legs. In August, Lulu and her mom will travel to Florida for surgery in an effort to reconstruct and regenerate the limbs and hopefully avoid amputation. The Paley Institute is the only facility in the United States that performs this surgery. In addition to the cost of the surgery, Lulu and her mom will have to remain in Florida for several months, leaving her dad and the rest of the family in Aston. During VBS, we will be collecting money that will be given to help this family with the many expenses that they will face. With donations from the campers, the church, and our community, we hope to raise $500. Check out the video for the extra motivation Pastor Tom is giving the kids to reach the goal: He's prepared to kiss a live crab during our closing ceremony on Friday night! You won't want to miss that or the opportunity to help out an extraordinary child and a cherished family in our community. You can also donate online through our electronic offering program, just note the donation is for Lulu.
