The Children's Center is an outreach ministry of Mount Hope United Methodist Church.  Founded in 1989, the Center's philosophy is to provide a Christian learning environment for young children in the community.  The Center provides early childhood learning experiences for children from ages two through Pre-K.  The Center's obejective is to offer a safe Christian environment staffed by qualified professional educators.  Our aim is to nurture the children's development through socializing experiences and learning through play.

Our early childhood curriculum is developmentally appropriate, providing for all areas of a child's development: physical, emotional, social and intellectual, through an integrated approach to learning, allowing each child to progress at his or her own pace.

Using our curriculum, we emphasize learning as an interactive and creative process.  The teachers prepare the environment for the children to learn through active exploration and interaction with adults, other children and materials.  All classes receive weekly Spanish and Music and Movement classes. Each class takes turns hosting a monthly Chapel where the children learn important life lessons from the Bible.  All classes have a computer. We have optional computer and "Handwriting without Tears" instructors teaching weekly lessons.

A variety of activities and materials are available to include opportunities for:

  • Bible stories
  • Arts and crafts

We want you to know, to understand, to discuss with us our goals.
We want you to look often into our busy, happy, noisy, creative rooms and to see your children at play.  We want you to realize the validity of that play and the importance of what your children are learning.  Parents and teachers together can help your children develop his/her full potential.

At our Center you will see ...

    • Materials to create
    • Books to read and explore
    • Ideas and concepts to talk about
    • Friends to relate to
    • Things to touch, smell, weigh and examine
    • Adventures to experience
    • Building and scenes to invent and discover
    • Time, space and a place to enjoy and grow
